Verminate's Green policies are based on the effects that rodenticides (Rat & Mice Poisons) have on the animal food chain, whether it's wildlife or our pets. When a rodent eats the poison bait the amount of poison inside the rodent actually increases in strength. This means the concentration is higher inside the dead or dying animal than the bait it first ate. When this happens as the rodent is still moving other animals still see it as prey, so animals such as foxes, cats, dogs eat them and the poisons effects them and vets have seen an increase in domestic pet poisoning. Wild birds like kestrels, owls, hobbies, kites and buzzards have also been affected by the increase in rodenticides and there numbers are being affected. The reports of this type of secondary poisoning are on the increase and the reports from vets and other wildlife groups back this up, such as Think Wild life Campaign. This is why at Verminate our methods are restricted to using poison baits and the use of non toxic means of rodent control are used in most cases, it also stops those horrible smells of dead animals around your premises. Only in controlled and confined areas will toxic baits ever be used. Our methods of non toxic rodent control and removal are just as effective, if carried out by a skilled pest technician. |
